Sports/Recreation Careers I (for Fall of 24-25)
HTC 332 Fall/Spring - 9:00am-10:30am Students in this course will explore a variety of topics related to careers in sports management, outdoor recreation and fitness industries. Taught through the lens of "sports as business", students will explore the history of the sports/recreation industry, analyze current trends locally, regionally and nationally and identify how their personal interests may translate to a career pathway. This survey level course will touch on topics ranging from marketing and sales to event planning and legal/ethical concerns. Sports/Recreation Careers II (for Fall of 25-26) HTC 432 Full Year Time TBD Students in this course will dive deeper into the topics touched on in Sports/Rec Careers I and expand into new areas such as sports psychology, coaching/leadership in sports and recreation and facilities management. During this course, students will be asked to present a business plan for a sports/recreation enterprise, organize and execute a community-based recreation activity and participate in an internship or job shadow experience. |
